The SBGAS Newsletter
The Sabine Baring-Gould Appreciation Society Newsletter was started by the founder of the society, David Shacklock in 1989. Over the years it has carried a number of short but interesting original articles by people who knew Sabine Baring-Gould or had special knowledge of him. It also contains a number of reprints of articles published in the past and some useful information about other publications by or about Baring-Gould. It is worth giving a 'health warning' that some of the articles may contain information that we now know to be untrue.
Our goal is to present the complete run of SBGAS Newsletters on this website and all of the newsletters published from 1989 to 2011 have now been scanned and uploaded. To find an article' select a year from the links to the left. You will then see an index for the year.
Up until 1999 you should then click on the name of the individual article that you wish to read.
For years 2000 and onwards the standard of printing had advanced considerably and so the whole magazine is presented, as a single file.
When you click on the link the file will open in Acrobat Reader or your default PDF file reader.
Thank you for your patience. This exercise has taken several years but I have found it very rewarding to look back at the wealth of information that is gathered here. I would like to recognise the efforts of my fellow contributors. But I would particularly like to thank and applaud the Editors who have cajoled and encouraged us over the years: Keith Lister, Becky Smith, Ron Wawman, Roger Bristow and, of course, the inspiration and founder of the Society and of its Newsletter - David Shacklock.
