There
are now a number of complete texts of books by Sabine
Baring-Gould to be found on-line. The three main
sources are:
The
Internet Archive
This
is the largest and most useful repositary of texts that
I have found and a search for Baring-Gould will yield
more that 50 full texts that you can read on-line or
download. The on-line reader is much clearer and faster
than reading PDF files, though you can download PDFs
or text to your computer for study at your leisure.
Google
Books Online
Is
another massive collection of electronic texts, both
books and magazine articles. I find it frustrating that
the search, like many of the searches of on-line newspapers,
pull out all the adverts for books as well as the full
texts. The texts are presented as PDF files and can
be slow to download.
Project
Gutenberg
Another
large on-line collection which contains four Baring-Gould
books at present - A
Book of Werewolves,
Castles
and Cave Dwellings of Europe,
In
Troubadour Land,
and The
Village Pulpit Vol II.
There
are also some texts to be found in other places. I have
checked the previous list on this page and I found that
two previously listed could no longer be found - but
the collections listed above more than compensate for
their loss. Here are the
ones that I know about :
Fiction:
Bladys
of the Stewponey
The
Frobishers
Non-fiction:
A
Book of Werewolves
A
Book of Folk-lore
Curious
Myths of the Middle Ages
(part only)
Other
articles:
Essay
on English Folk Music from
'English Minstrelsie'
